About the Apprenticeship

Programme Length: 5.5 years

We work on hundreds of developments across the UK: each with its unique challenges and highlights. Site Management ensure that every one of them is built to the highest quality, as efficiently as possible.

From coordinating trades and materials to ensuring health and safety, all while delivering exceptional customer service, you’ll be working at the heart of our business on-site.

Building history

Our Degree Apprenticeship will teach all about the latest sustainable building methods and materials, as well as helping you to develop those all-important people and management skills.

Starting on site as a Trainee Assistant Site Manager, and supported by your learning at university, our apprenticeship will provide you with the experience, training and support you need to set you on the path to becoming an exceptional Site Manager.

Locations

Our apprentices are based all over mainland Britain, but locations of roles will vary each year.

Eligibility

To qualify for Higher Apprenticeship, you’ll need ONE of the following:

  • One A-Level and four GCSEs at Grade 4-9 (or equivalent), including Maths and English
  • A BTEC National Qualification
  • An Advanced Diploma in Construction or Built Environment

Complete the Higher Apprenticeship and you’ll automatically be enrolled on to the Degree Apprenticeship. If you have ONE of the following, however, you may be able to join the Degree Apprenticeship directly:

  • A Cert HE in a Construction related subject
  • HNC in Construction or equivalent qualifications
  • Access – at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2 from a relevant Open College Network accredited course

If you have an Armed Forces background, work experience, previous qualifications or any skills gained in previous roles may be accounted for in place of formal qualifications.

Applications for 2024 have closed. Make sure you apply before applications close in your location, as we don’t recruit outside the application window.

Salary

We ensure that our salary and renumeration packages are competitive within the industry and are adjusted for inflation.

£21,500 to £24,000 (dependant on location and experience)

The programme combines on and off-the-job learning which further your skills and knowledge of the role. There is also the opportunity to rotate around different key areas of the business during the apprenticeship.

Learning

You’ll learn the technical elements of the role alongside industry-leading teaching at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), preparing you for a career at the leading edge of one of Britain’s most exciting industries.

Earn while you learn

Our programme enables you to ‘earn while you learn’ by working on real sites or projects alongside industry leading teams, while earning a competitive salary and continuing your education.

Support

A dedicated manager will guide you through day-to-day challenges, providing you with the right technical knowledge and regular reviews with your mentor will ensure that you reach your potential. Additionally, Sheffield Hallam University will appoint a Course Leader and Work-Based Learning Coach who will provide on-going support throughout your time on the apprenticeship.

1. Apply online followed by a video interview

Get your online application under way by clicking the link below, and don’t forget to attach your CV. If successful, you’ll be invited to participate in a video interview, where you’ll be asked about your key skills, commercial awareness and motivations.

2. Assessment centre

Assessment centres will take place from April onwards and will include a short pre-prepared presentation and interview with a Director from your local office.

3. University application

If successful at the video interview stage, you’ll complete a university application to check your eligibility against the entry criteria.

4. Job offer and start

Successful applicants will receive their offers from May onwards. We’ll also help you complete the remainder of your university eligibility activities, which include:

  • A self-assessment of your current knowledge, skills and behaviour
  • A functional skills review
  • A chat with a ‘Work-Based Learning Coach’
